About Ashlander Analysis
Ashlander Analysis is a place for critical writing on the weird and fantastic, by a Zillennial history graduate with too many thoughts.
I am mainly interested in fantasy and sci-fi, but also write about other genres, e.g. historical fiction, classics and horror, especially when they overlap. I cover a variety of media, including books, films, and video games, particularly roleplaying games.
Some key areas of interest:
Stories about injustice in society.
Fantasy/sci-fi as valuable genres, suitable for telling serious stories.
Video games as a legitimate artistic medium with unique strengths and possibilities for storytelling.
Stories with existential themes.
Stories emphasising the value of friendship as well as romance.
I publish three Sundays a month, and all of my articles are free.
NB: I do not use AI for writing, or anything other than my profile pic.
